Riding motorcycles on footpaths is a most frequent issue
รายงานประจ ำำ?ป ีีกร ุุงเทพมหานคร 2566 complained by the public. The city law enforcement officers
have arrested and fined the riders continuously. Since 1 June
2023, 7,893 violating riders have been arrested, out of which
7,743 were fined. The fines collected currently total 9,782,200
baht.
Apart from the officers’ patrolling and checkpoints, in
2023 CCTV cameras with an AI- detecting system were installed
to assist with the detection of license plate numbers. From
June to August 2023, 3,824 violating riders were arrested, out
of which 174 were given warnings. The penalty ranged from
2,000 to 5,000 baht fines.
The BMA expects that in the future motorcyclists will have
a conscience in traffic discipline and not ride on footpaths so
that there will be no need for the officers to patrol or set up
checkpoints and Bangkok will be a truly livable and safe city.
