Some BMA-supervised
schools lack data disclosure.
As it is difficult to access
their information, participation
in the school improvement
process is not possible.
Recognizing the problem, the BMA has publicly released
six data sets of its schools via BEMIS including the list of BMA-
supervised schools and the educational levels each has covered
such as teaching from kindergarten level up to primary educational
level or teaching from kindergarten level up to junior secondary
education level; the lists of schools in each school category; the lists
of schools by size of students or teachers/educational personnel;
and the number of teachers categorized by their educational level.
Before the end of 2023, the BMA will release 22 more sets of data
as open data. Among them are the number of classrooms by
educational level, the number of students by educational level,
teaching-method categorization, co-educational schools, learning
outcomes in percentages, school buildings, graduates’ information,
the BMA’s budget, the subsidy budget, funding information, students’
disabilities by type, underprivileged children, learning materials,
student information categorized based on many criteria, teacher
information categorized based on many criteria, water charges,
electricity charges, and internet data.
based on the ‘Learning School’ concept
The BMA has embraced the ‘Learning School’ concept in
improving teaching quality and developing its teachers. The concept
focuses on using innovations for the learning of all members of schools
– students, teachers, school executives, parents, communities, and
relevant parties. The pilot phase of this initiative has already covered
five BMA-supervised schools thanks to support from Chulalongkorn
University’s Faculty of Education. In 2023, the BMA expanded its
initiative to 23 schools through collaboration with the same institute.
e-Library: reading e-books anywhere
The BMA has already established 36 public libraries. However,
as e-books have grown popular, the BMA has decided to set up an
e-library n the hope of boosting people’s access to knowledge sources
and promoting a reading culture. The decision materialized in the form
of ‘BKK x Hibrary: Reading Free e-Books Anywhere’. Established through
the BMA’s collaboration with HYTEXTS Interactive Company Limited,
this e-library offers access to more than 500 magazine, journal, and
e-newspaper titles on top of over 1,000 e-book titles. Covering all
categories of literature, its entries are properly licensed. This e-library
can serve up to 200,000 accounts. Users can access this e-library via
electronic devices namely smartphones, computers, and tablets.
