Bangkok Metropolitan Administration joined hands with the Raks Thai and Friends of Women foundations to organise the “She is Me” project for International Women’s Day on Wednesday (March 8).
Presiding over the opening ceremony at EmQuartier shopping complex, Deputy Bangkok governor Tavida Kamolvej said “She is Me” – a series of talks and events led by inspiring female figures – is a voice for all women, as well as for people of alternative gender categories.
“We want to see all groups in society, no matter how big or small, get an equal opportunity to express their love and free choices without social pressure. That’s the true power of equality,” she said.
Tavida also promised that BMA will continue to cooperate with networks of partners to improve the quality of life of women and children, which is a core mission in the city’s strategy plan.
Initiated by Raks Thai and the Friends of Women, She is Me is organised on International Women’s Day every year to promote women’s rights and sexual equality, as well as to celebrate women’s achievements and progress in social, political and economic fields.
