
(2 Nov. 2025) At 17.00 hrs., Mr. Taiwhut Khankaew, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) revealed the results of the BMA daily operations in caring for and facilitating citizens who came to pay their respects before the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The details are as follows:
Number of mourners: The total of 3,869 mourners passed through the Manee Nopparat Gate today to pay their respects before the Queen Mother’s portrait at the Sahathai Samakhom Pavilion in the Grand Palace. The cumulative number from 27 October to 2 November 2025 is 22,866 people.
Services and Facilitation: the BMA has set up waiting tents and chairs, and has prepared wheelchairs for the elderly and those with disabilities, with 55 people using the service. The BMA currently has 33 wheelchairs available, and another 40 wheelchairs will be donated tomorrow, bringing the total to 73 wheelchairs available. These will be distributed to more areas within the tunnels, including additional wheelchair stations at each time period and intermittent transfers to provide faster and more convenient service to the public.
Today, as of 14.00 hrs., a total of 252 users utilized electric golf carts for transporting the elderly along the road through the Royal Field or Sanam Luang. Additionally, communication officers and volunteer interpreters in foreign languages have been arranged to provide information to foreign visitors. Officers have also been deployed to facilitate traffic in case of vehicle breakdowns or obstructions in the parking area at Sanam Luang and along the royal procession route.
Sanitary and Environment: The BMA has arranged toilets for people with disabilities and deployed mobile toilet buses. Designated waste disposal points have been established, staffed by officers who provide advice on waste separation. Today, the total amount of waste collected was 1,132 kilograms, an increase of 380 kilograms from the previous day. It is divided into 310 kilograms of general waste, 327 kilograms of recyclable waste, and 495 kilograms of food waste.
Clothing Lending Service: The BMA has established a clothing lending point for sarongs and trousers at the Na Phra Lan Tunnel. A total of 725 people utilized the service today, divided into 676 Thai nationals and 49 foreigners. Specifically, 572 people borrowed sarongs and 38 people borrowed trousers. All clothing items provided are washed and cleaned every time before being given to the public to borrow again.
Medical and Nursing Services: The BMA has established a total of 12 medical service points across the area, namely 2 points at the Na Phra Lan Tunnel, 2 points at the waiting tents (Royal Field or Sanam Luang), and waiting areas near Thammasat University, the Royal Kitchen, Methavalai, the Phra Mae Thorani Statue, Phra Ratchawang Police Station, Samranrat Police Station, Nang Loeng Police Station, and Hap Phoei Road. Medical and nursing teams were deployed throughout the day to inspect the area and provide health advice to the public. 874 people received medical services, and no one was taken to the hospital. Inhalers were distributed to 784 people. The remaining people had general symptoms such as fainting, headaches, injuries, etc. Yesterday, a staff member fell down the stairs in the tunnel while changing a lightbulb and broke his arm, who later has been closely monitored by doctors.
Safety and Security: The BMA has deployed City Law Enforcement Officers to ensure safety and facilitate the public across the area in coordination with the police. Measures include the installation of CCTV cameras and officers are deployed to maintain order at various entrances and exits to prevent confusion and prepare the area to accommodate the expected increase in the number of people at Sanam Luang. Additionally, fire trucks with staff are on standby at nearby centers. Fire extinguishers have been placed at all food preparation sites. Moreover, the BMA staff are assigned to give instruction to personnel in the Royal Kitchen regarding the safe use of LPG gas and electrical equipment, as well as the procedures for using fire extinguishers to suppress initial blazes. Officers are also assigned to trim tree branches and brace trees throughout the operational zone.
Sanitation: The BMA deployed officers to monitor food sanitation and hygienic food preparation practices. It aims to solve problems of water overflow on the ground and around tree bases, and prevent damage to trees around the Royal Field due to excessive water. They also provided guidance on washing utensils in designated areas, with grease traps to be installed to treat wastewater before disposal, preventing clogged drains and foul odors. Officers also monitor the installation of sinks and grease traps. The related parties were assigned to arrange and manage the field kitchen areas in an aligned order.
Public Relations: The BMA has supported additional public relations signs as follows: 1. Signboards inside the tunnel directing visitors to pay their respects to the royal remains, 2. Signboards indicating the location of restrooms, 3. Signboards marking “photo points” or “check points” within the photo area, 4. Two signboards displaying dress code at the “Metropolitan Police Station Coordination Center” and “Incident Reporting Point” areas, 5. A signboard at the garbage management coordination point, 6. Signboards providing information about toilets, drinking water, and tree care services, and 7. Two condolence signboards located in front of the Bangkok City Hall and the Giant Swing.
