The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration on Saturday turned Chatuchak district’s Vachirabenjatas Park, also known as Rot Fai Park, into an oasis for pet dogs and cats.
The new pet park is a collaborative effort between the Department of Environment and the maker of JerHigh dog food, Charoen Pokphand Foods, under the theme “four-legged heroes”.
Pornprom Vikitset, an adviser to Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, presided over the ceremony opening the park to pets.
About 280 pets visited the park on Saturday.
Several rules apply to pet owners at the park:
– Owners are responsible for their pets’ actions.
– Pets must be registered with the BMA and vaccinated against rabies.
– Owners must keep their pets in leashes or strollers.
– Owners must collect pet poop and dump it in specified bins.
– Pets are not allowed to swim in the park.
– People must refrain from exciting other people’s pets.
– Owners must ensure that their pets do not harm people, pets and other animals in the park.
People must refrain from bringing food, glass containers, and sick or aggressive pets to the park. Pets in heat or below 4 months of age are not permitted in the park.
The park is open to pets accompanied by a person daily from 5am to 9pm.
