BMA Enhances Health Infrastructure and Data Accuracy to Achieve WHO’s Highest Healthy City Status

On June 24, 2026, Miss Kanokwan Eiamlim, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), chaired the second 2026 working group meeting dedicated to driving Bangkok’s development into a regional healthy city. Held at Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha), the meeting focused on reviewing progress and refining documentation ahead of the World Health Organization (WHO) evaluation. The BMA is actively seeking to elevate Bangkok to an “Evolved Healthy City,” which represents the highest achievable tier under the WHO’s urban health assessment criteria.

To build a strong case for this distinction, the working group systematically evaluated and addressed the structural and data weaknesses identified during the previous 2024 assessment cycle. The discussions prioritized improving critical socioeconomic and safety indicators, including urban road safety, public health and social welfare systems, educational equity, and local citizen participation. Miss Kanokwan instructed all relevant municipal agencies to aggressively gather supplementary data to guarantee the complete accuracy of the upcoming assessment portfolio. This collective effort ensures that the submission will accurately reflect Bangkok’s ongoing developmental strides and meet the WHO’s strict compliance deadlines.
