BMA Welcomes Guangzhou Delegation to Strengthen Sister-City Economic and Trade Ties

On June 24, 2026, Mr. Taiwhut Khankaew, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), received a courtesy call from a delegation from Guangzhou, China, at the Amornphimarn Room in Bangkok City Hall. The visiting delegation was led by Mr. Wang Huanqing, Standing Committee Member of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and President of the Guangzhou Overseas Friendship Association. Key representatives accompanying him included senior officials from the Guangzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce, the Guangzhou Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), and executives from the GAC Group, including the General Manager of GAC Group Thailand Sales Company.

The courtesy call served as a crucial platform for both cities to exchange knowledge and operational experiences across various municipal sectors. The primary focus of the discussions centered on actively promoting economic and trade relations, alongside fortifying the long-standing bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two sister cities. As a gesture of goodwill and to mark the occasion, Deputy Permanent Secretary Taiwhut presented Mr. Wang Huanqing with traditional mementos, including a set of Benjarong porcelain and a book titled “As Floral Tributes for His Majesty the King.”

Guangzhou, renowned internationally as China’s “City of Flowers” and historically nicknamed the “City of Rams,” serves as the capital of Guangdong Province. Situated in the northern Pearl River Delta, it acts as a premier central hub in southern China, strategically bordering the South China Sea, Hong Kong, and Macau. Since establishing their official sister-city relationship, Bangkok and Guangzhou have continuously fostered close ties through cultural and educational exchanges. The BMA’s ongoing engagement with this major global gateway reflects Bangkok’s commitment to deepening international partnerships, driving regional commerce, and expanding shared economic and trade opportunities with its Chinese counterpart.
