BMA Allocates Health Security Funds for Six Proactive Projects Targeting the Elderly, Disabled, and Mental Health Care

On June 8, 2026, Dr. Lertluck Leelaruangsang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), chaired the third Bangkok Metropolitan Health Security Fund Committee meeting at Bangkok City Hall, Din Daeng. The meeting focused on addressing pressing urban health issues, aligned with the National Health Security Office’s expanded funding guidelines for chronic psychiatric care, community drug rehabilitation, adult diapers, and pediatric eye care. Dr. Lertluck noted that mental health and drug addiction remain top government priorities, highlighting that data from the BMA’s “One Million Health Checkups Project” reveals a significant rise in mental health challenges, particularly among younger demographics.

To directly address these community healthcare needs, the committee formally approved financial backing for six specialized proactive health projects. Significant funding was approved for adult diaper and incontinence services, with Public Health Center 30 Bangkok Noi receiving 2,140,635 baht and Public Health Center 43 Min Buri granted 2,426,808.12 baht to assist dependent individuals. Elderly wellness initiatives received crucial backing, including the Institute for Human Resources and Social Research’s “Strong Hearts in Seniors” project (988,590 baht) and an Alzheimer’s prevention campaign by the Sanyajai Friends Across Generations Group (170,947 baht). Additionally, 50,550 baht was allocated to the Bangkok Metropolitan Health Security Fund Office to organize a working group meeting to develop guidelines for supporting rehabilitation services. Finally, 956,000 baht was granted to Charoen Krung Pracharak Hospital to fund the second phase of a vital transportation service that helps disabled individuals safely access public healthcare facilities.

To ensure comprehensive, decentralized healthcare coverage across the capital, the committee concluded by approving supplementary budgets for eleven district offices, including Thung Khru, Samphanthawong, Thonburi, Nong Chok, Phra Nakhon, Saphan Sung, Bangkok Yai, Khlong Sam Wa, Nong Khaem, Phra Khanong, and Thawi Watthana. These additional local funds will empower district administrators to actively drive tailored health promotion and disease prevention activities, securing a higher quality of life directly inside Bangkok’s diverse communities.
