BMA and Senate Secretariat Forge Alliance to Elevate International Affairs Standards

On February 19, 2026, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) officially welcomed a delegation from the Secretariat of the Senate, marking a significant step toward synchronized diplomacy across Thailand’s government agencies. Dr. Lertluck Leelaruangsang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the BMA, hosted 36 personnel led by Ms. Nisaporn Wiboonchan, Director of the Bureau of Foreign Affairs. The meeting, held at the historic Bangkok City Hall in Phra Nakhon District, served as a platform for exchanging best practices in protocol, international relations, and human resource development, ensuring that both local and national entities are aligned in their global outreach.

During the visit, Dr. Lertluck articulated a clear vision for the BMA’s multifaceted role, which extends far beyond local governance. She categorized the BMA’s mission into three pillars: providing essential services and health knowledge to Bangkok residents, fulfilling national-level initiatives, and managing critical international missions. As a central hub for development, Bangkok has actively cultivated “sister city” relationships to tackle urban challenges through shared expertise. Dr. Lertluck emphasized that the BMA’s International Affairs Office has transitioned from a ceremonial unit into a pivotal strategic engine, driving collaborations on technical issues such as flood prevention, drainage systems, and youth exchange programs that align with the city’s long-term growth.

This exchange is a cornerstone of the Senate’s 2026 fiscal year project, designed to bolster the foreign affairs missions of the Thai Parliament by building robust inter-agency networks. Dr. Lertluck noted that such cooperation increases the overall efficiency of international missions for both agencies, creating a unified front for the Thai Parliament and the capital city. As both organizations look toward future development, this partnership establishes a strong foundation for supporting the country’s foreign affairs through shared expertise and resource optimization. This exchange marks a proactive step in ensuring that Thailand’s various government levels operate with a synchronized and modern diplomatic vision.
