Permanent Secretary of BMA joins in opening the event under the banner of His Majesty the King’s 242nd Anniversary of the Great Rattanakosin, 21-25 April, by inviting people to dress in Thai costumes to attend the event and watch cultural performances, the Royal Light Park Exhibition, and the museum at night to stimulate the economy and promote cultural tourism

 

Dr. Wantanee Wattana, Permanent Secretary of BMA, attended the opening ceremony under the royal patronage of 242 years of Rattanakosin at the National Museum, Bangkok.

The Ministry of Culture (Ministry of Culture) together with Bangkok, government agencies, the private sector, and more than 20 cultural networks, organized an event under the umbrella of His Majesty the King’s 242nd Anniversary of Rattanakosin between 19 – 25 April 2024 at the Bangkok National Museum, National Theatre, Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Gallery around Rattanakosin Island, Bangkok and Wat Prayurawongsawas Worawihan. It is to commemorate and honor His Majesty King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok the Great, the first king of the Chakri Dynasty, and all Thai monarchs in the Chakri Dynasty. And for children, youth, and the public to learn about the history of the founding of Rattanakosin, promote cultural tourism, increase income, and stimulate the national economy.

Activities are divided into two main areas: the National Museum and the National Theatre. There are activities such as visiting the Night Museum, performing arts and culture, and daily Thai and international music, as well as organizing a retro Rattanakosin market. We invite people to participate in dressing in Thai costumes and within the event there will be a shop for renting Thai costumes and a period photography spot to serve the people.

This year, there are also 5 museums and cultural learning resources around Rattanakosin Island that are participating in the event under the umbrella of His Majesty the King’s 242nd Anniversary of Rattanakosin, allowing the public to view the exhibition free of charge: 1. Defense City Hall Museum, 2. Parusakawan Palace Police Museum, 3. Pananurak Numismatic Museum, 4. Pipit Bang Lamphu and 5.Museum Siam
