The Governor of Bangkok thanked the workers for making Songkran’2024 a success and ordered that lessons be learned to improve next year and urged them to continue solving problems in the city intensively.

Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, chaired the meeting of the Bangkok Executive Committee No. 7/2024 at Bangkok City Hall (Giant Swing), Phra Nakhon District.

The Governor of Bangkok informed the meeting that the last Songkran went well. Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this year’s Songkran a very good day and I believe it will win the hearts of many people. However, there are still things that need to be improved, namely the hawker stalls. In the future, sales points must be more organized so that the city’s economy can continue to move forward. Old buses are turned into parade floats with fun music playing during Pride Month. This event received a good response, making people feel more involved with the area. In the future, we may consider using the Sanam Luang area to make it more accessible to the public. As for accidents, it is considered slightly better. Thank you to everyone who did their best. We ask that all relevant agencies quickly take the lessons learned to plan and use them to improve next year’s event.

“Recent problems such as water at Lumpini Park, Bangkok’s strength is in solving problems quickly, but there are weaknesses in preventing problems from occurring. Executives have to improve strategic planning by anticipating problems that will arise in advance and their prevention more carefully. As for the problem of sidewalks, hawkers, and stalls, it is considered that things can be improved. There are still some points where we ask the Deputy Permanent Secretary to provide intensive and continuous assistance,” the Governor of Bangkok stressed.

Today, the meeting reported on the results of operations during the Songkran festival in terms of organizing the event, the overall picture of the event and problems that occurred, and the results of implementing safety measures as well as reporting statistics on injuries and deaths from traffic accidents during the Songkran festival in the Bangkok area.
