Mr. Nathapond Disayabutra, Deputy Permanent Secretary of BMA, presided over the opening ceremony of “Bangkokyai Walking Street to Develop a Creative District and Stimulate the Community Economy” in front of the Bangkok Yai District Office.
He said “Bangkokyai Walking Street to develop a creative district and stimulate the community economy” this time adding economic value to the Tha Phra area. This area in front of the Bangkok Yai District Office has the potential to be developed into a tourist attraction because it is adjacent to the Bangkok Yai Canal and has a viewpoint with a beautiful backdrop of the Big Buddha of Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen. It is also connected to the Talat Phlu area, Thonburi District, which is a famous food source and popular with both Thai and foreign tourists.
He said that this Walking Street is a joint effort of the public and government sectors to popularize the Tha Phra area and stimulate the economy. It includes providing distribution channels for entrepreneurs in the community and outside the community, OTOP operators, and farmers in the district to create jobs and income while reducing expenses for the people. The event “Bangkokyai Walking Street to Develop a Creative District and Stimulate the Community Economy” was held between 1 – 9 April 2024 in front of the Bangkok Yai District Office. It is an activity by the policy of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration administration to “draw identity, build the economy of 50 neighborhoods throughout Bangkok”. During the event, there were activities such as the distribution of cheap consumer products, Blue Flag (Thong Fah) low-priced stores, community products, and OTOP products. It also includes performances by students from Bangkok schools in the district, performances by the Elderly Club, and performances by the youth club To be Number One in the Bangkok Yai area.
