On July 10, 2026, Ms. Aranya Pornchaiya, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), delivered an official orientation address to 205 newly appointed civil servants stepping into the role of Assistant Fire and Rescue Officers. Held at the Vesna 1 Gymnasium within the Bangkok Youth Center (Thai – Japan) in Din Daeng District, the ceremony was attended by senior executives from the BMA’s Fire and Rescue Department, the BMA Civil Service Commission, and official representatives from the Ministry of Defense. Ms. Aranya congratulated the recruits and expressed profound gratitude to the military for its collaborative support in reinforcing Bangkok’s frontline emergency personnel to better safeguard lives and public property.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary emphasized that today’s disaster landscapes are increasingly complex and rapidly shifting, demanding that personnel continuously upgrade their technical knowledge, operational skills, and physical fitness. Following their official induction, these officers will undergo rigorous tactical training and mentorship to adapt to the city’s unique high-density urban environment. Ms. Aranya assured the recruits that the BMA provides equitable career advancement paths based on individual merit, urging everyone to adhere strictly to good governance, transparency, and integrity.
This major recruitment drive marks the successful second pilot phase under a strategic Memorandum of Understanding signed between the BMA and the Ministry of Defense on February 24, 2025. The MOU is designed to systematically select active-duty soldiers, reservists, and volunteer veterans for official appointment into the BMA civil service. By bridging national defense personnel with local emergency services, this inter-agency partnership provides secure career opportunities for military personnel after discharge while effectively building a resilient, highly trained network of modern first responders dedicated to protecting the citizens of Bangkok.
