BMA Advances Royal Initiative with Sustainable ‘Local Resource Base Operation’ Training

On June 30, 2026, Dr. Lertluck Leelaruangsang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), presided over the opening ceremony of the “Training Activity on Local Resource Base Operation”. Held at Navamindradhiraj University’s Kasemsri Building, the training program is a direct response to the Royal Project for Plant Genetic Conservation, an initiative pioneered by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The primary objective of this training program is to establish a robust network of personnel dedicated to sustainable resource conservation across the capital’s administrative landscape.

Dr. Lertluck emphasized the BMA’s steadfast commitment to restoring and protecting both physical and biological resources within the capital. By recognizing the intrinsic value of these assets, the administration aims to foster public awareness by systematically collecting data and building a comprehensive knowledge base that bridges plants, local wisdom, human history, and community culture. This educational effort is designed to spark collaborative local actions that improve urban ecosystems, promote biodiversity, and secure long-term socioeconomic benefits for the public. The training provides participants with practical methodologies to effectively transfer this conservation knowledge into tangible community action plans.

To ensure high-quality training outcomes, the BMA partnered with expert lecturers specializing in resource management from the Plant Conservation Project Coordination Center at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage. These specialists shared critical strategies on driving local resource base management to achieve the royal project’s sustainable targets. Dr. Lertluck concluded that because human well-being and natural resources are deeply interconnected, conserving these assets is essential to safeguarding the general quality of life. The workshop ultimately serves as a strategic cornerstone for integrating environmental heritage into Bangkok’s long-term social development framework.
