BMA and DEPA Launch Intensive AI Training to Transform Bangkok’s Classrooms and Spark Student Innovation

In a significant move to modernize the capital’s educational ecosystem, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) partnered with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) to launch the “Coding Thailand 2026: AI Inspires the Future” workshop. Presided over by Miss Aranya Pornchaiya, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the BMA, the initiative aims to equip teachers and educational personnel with high-level artificial intelligence skills. During the opening ceremony held at the Computer Training Center of the BMA Education Department in Khlong San District, 58 selected participants began an intensive journey designed to transform them from traditional educators into digital innovation coaches. This strategic collaboration focuses on integrating AI tools into daily curricula while simultaneously preparing school leaders to develop specialized teams for national and international digital competitions.

Deputy Permanent Secretary Aranya emphasized that the program serves a dual purpose: enhancing the quality of classroom instruction and fostering a competitive spirit among BMA youth. By mastering AI-driven design and rapid prototyping via “Maker Lab” technology, teachers are expected to act as facilitators who guide students in creating tangible technological solutions. Dr. Chakkanit Kananurak of DEPA highlighted that a primary objective is to identify and cultivate representatives who can showcase Bangkok’s innovative potential on a national stage. Beyond simple literacy, the training covers school policy strategizing and innovation coaching, ensuring that the digital shift is sustainable and systemic. The event, attended by top officials from the Education Department, underscores a unified commitment to developing a new generation of Thai innovators. Ultimately, the BMA and DEPA envision these educators as the vital force necessary to drive long-term technological excellence and sustainable educational change across the city’s school network.
