BMA Earns National Recognition for Excellence in Public Health Law Enforcement

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has been formally recognized for its commitment to urban well-being, receiving a prestigious award for outstanding achievements in enforcing public health laws throughout 2025. Representing the city at the closing ceremony of the 18th National Conference on Health Promotion and Environmental Health on March 18, 2026, Dr. Lertluck Leelaruangsang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the BMA, accepted the honors from Dr. Amporn Benjapholpitak, Director-General of the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health. Held under the timely theme of “Building Sustainable Wellness under Climate Change,” the event highlighted the BMA’s critical role in a nationwide network dedicated to strengthening Thailand’s health system against the evolving challenges of the global climate crisis.

The conference, which spanned three days at the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel in Lak Si, served as a massive collaborative hub for nearly 1,500 participants from government, academia, and the private sector. A total of 122 awards were distributed to honor innovative elderly care, model remote schools, and agencies that have excelled in environmental sanitation. The BMA’s recognition specifically underscores its success in utilizing legal frameworks to protect public health, ensuring that urban environments remain safe and sanitary for all residents. This achievement is viewed as a cornerstone of the city’s broader strategy to integrate health promotion with environmental resilience, a necessity as changing weather patterns begin to impact the health of citizens across all age groups.

In addition to the formal awards, the conference featured extensive academic exchanges, including the presentation of 89 research papers and innovative “LIKE Talk” sessions. By participating in this high-level forum, the BMA continues to align its local enforcement strategies with national health goals and global best practices. The recognition serves as both a validation of the city’s 2025 performance and an incentive for officials to continue refining the intersection of law, health, and environmental sustainability. Moving forward, the BMA aims to use the insights gained from this gathering to further fortify its public health infrastructure against future climate-related risks.
