BMA and Navamindradhiraj University to Produce Manpower for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Filling Personnel Gaps

On February 9, 2026, Miss Aranya Pornchaiya, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the BMA, presided over a meeting focused on collaborative efforts for the strategic development of manpower in disaster management. This meeting served as a follow-up to the progression of an associate degree curriculum that emphasizes the integration of theoretical learning with practical field training in disaster management. In attendance were Mrs. Waraporn Seehanat, Vice President of Navamindradhiraj University, along with other relevant officials, convened at Navamindradhiraj University Council Office Building in Dusit District.

The curriculum is designed to establish a comprehensive ecosystem for the production of disaster management personnel through a partnership between the BMA and Navamindradhiraj University. The associate degree program prioritizes an integrated educational approach that combines classroom instruction with field experience, thereby facilitating career advancement. The program offerings include: 1. An Associate Degree (2 years) centered on practical disaster management, allowing graduates who meet the required competencies to gain immediate employment as Fire and Rescue Officers at the Practitioner Level. 2. A Bachelor’s degree that enables graduates to transfer credits to pursue advanced positions in technical, expert, and management roles in the future.

Currently, efforts are underway to develop a competency framework and draft a curriculum for submission to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The inaugural cohort of students is projected to be admitted in early 2027.
