Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, met with the newly appointed Kazakhstani Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Margulan Baimukhan, at Bangkok City Hall on January 27, 2026, signaling a strategic pivot toward deeper cooperation between the Thai capital and Central Asia. The courtesy call served as an official introduction following the Ambassador’s appointment in late 2025 and highlighted a shared commitment to modernizing urban partnerships.
Accompanied by Third Secretary Damir Akhmetov, Ambassador Baimukhan engaged in wide-ranging discussions with a BMA delegation that included Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, and key executives from the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department. The dialogue centered on a “new era” of bilateral relations, moving beyond traditional diplomacy to focus on the high-growth sectors of digital technology, e-commerce, and startup ecosystems.
Governor Chadchart highlighted the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s commitment to prioritizing international collaboration as a means to advance sustainable development initiatives. Additionally, the parties engaged in a fruitful exchange of ideas and indicated a mutual interest in jointly developing digital systems to enhance government administration. They also explored opportunities for cooperation in trade, economic expansion, investment, transportation, and logistics between Kazakhstan and Thailand.
The Governor reaffirmed Bangkok’s role as a global hub, expressing readiness to facilitate humanitarian and cultural exchanges that benefit both nations. As a gesture of the burgeoning friendship, Governor Chadchart presented Ambassador Baimukhan with a replica of the Key to the City and a commemorative book, “As Floral Tributes for His Majesty the King.” This meeting underscores Bangkok’s expanding diplomatic footprint, laying the groundwork for a robust, modernized partnership with Kazakhstan that spans trade, technology, and cultural heritage.
