The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has embraced the national digital wallet and payment system initiatives by encouraging vendors in key economic zones and BMA-regulated markets to adopt QR Code payments (PromptPay). This initiative aims to reduce cash usage in line with the “Smart City” concept.
Currently, the BMA is prepared to support the Bank of Thailand’s (BOT) policy on ASEAN Payment Connectivity. This connection allows international tourists to make seamless, real-time payments at creative districts and local community shops. This serves as a vital mechanism for stimulating the grassroots economy and driving Bangkok toward becoming a world-class destination that truly meets the needs of a digital lifestyle.
