BMA takes the stage at the Lancang–Mekong Cooperation Forum 2025 to showcase the successful revitalization of ‘Ong Ang Canal’ and ‘Prem Prachakon Canal,’ alongside creative city development, transforming Bangkok into a Living Cultural Heritage City.

On 19 November 2025, Dr. Lerluck Leelaruangsang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), attended the Lancang–Mekong Cooperation Forum 2025 in Dali, Yunnan Province, China, where she presented Bangkok’s vision for preserving and revitalizing its historical and cultural heritage.

Dr. Lertluck highlighted successful initiatives such as the Ong Ang Canal revitalization and the redevelopment of the Prem Prachakorn Canal area, which transformed deteriorated zones into vibrant public spaces and tourist attractions. She emphasized Bangkok’s approach of “bringing heritage to life,” along with the integration of digital tools, including Open Data and the “BKK Risk Map,” to enhance tourism access and public safety.

Dr. Lertluck stressed that successful heritage conservation relies on collaboration across all sectors, especially local communities, reaffirming Bangkok’s commitment to becoming a“living cultural heritage city.”

The forum, organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, brought together over 200 representatives from cities across China and Lancang–Mekong countries.
