Restaurant operated by children opens to boost their brain functions.

(January 30, 2025) The restaurant dubbed “A heart in the stars” at Wat Siripong Thamnimit Child Development Centre in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district was opened, featuring an activity to boost brain executive functions (EF) among children aged 0-6 years.
The event was attended by several Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) executives, including Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Saenyakorn Unmeesri, Deputy Permanent Secretary for BMA, Deputy Director-General of Social Development Department and relevant officials.
During the activity, kindergarten 3 students prepared and served breakfast meals for kindergarten 1 and 2 students, guardians and alumni. This activity aimed to develop the learners’ potential by fostering their skills and interests in a simulated environment.
Governor Chadchart praised the children for their participation and thanked the teachers and staffs for organising the event. He emphasised the importance of early childhood development (ages 0 to 6) in education, cognitive functions and daily life skills to ensure they acquire essential abilities as they grow.
The BMA also plan to expand the teaching model to promote and develop student potential in other schools.
The restaurant “A heart in the stars” was named by the students, and its name will change annually. It incorporates knowledge gained throughout the semester and will operate for two weeks from 7 am to 9 am.
In this simulated setting, kindergarten 1 and 2 students, along with their guardians and alumni, will act as customers. Teachers and mentors will prepare the breakfast meals, including whole wheat bread rolls, crispy bread topped with edible flowers, rainbow egg cakes, tuna sandwiches, pancakes, rainbow porridge, orange juice, coffee and Ovaltine chocolate malt.
The kindergarten 3 students will manage the store by welcoming customers, cleaning, processing payments and taking orders.
