The Governor of Bangkok welcomes the Singapore Ambassador to prepare to speak at the World Cities Summit this June.



Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok welcomed and presented the key to the model city and the book “Bangkok: Recipes and Stories from the Heart of Thailand” as souvenirs to H.E. Ms. Wong Siow Ping Catherine, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Thailand and Mr. Harry Goh, Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Thailand, on the occasion of paying a courtesy call at Bangkok City Hall (Giant Swing).

Today, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Thailand paid a courtesy call to the Governor of Bangkok to introduce himself after assuming his duties and discuss the possibility of building cooperation between Bangkok and the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Thailand such as mutual exchanges in education and horticulture, as well as joint activities on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Singapore in 2025. It may focus on cultural aspects such as food, fashion, art exhibitions, movies, etc. Thailand and the Republic of Singapore established diplomatic relations with each other on September 20, 1965, and have continued to drive the development of relations in various fields, including politics, economics, military, and security, as well as social and cultural aspects.

They also discussed issues of the 9th World Cities Summit, which will be held from 2 – 4 June 2024 in the Republic of Singapore, for city leaders invited to attend only the event, city leaders, government and private sector representatives, and representatives of international organizations shared insights into policy formulation, and management strategies as well as guidelines for solving urban problems under the topic of “Liveable & Sustainable Cities: Rejuvenation, Reinvention, Reimagine” There will also be an academic conference (WCS Thematic Track & Sessions) on 5 topics: 1. Cities for People 2. Resilient & Regenerative Cities 3. Smart Cities 4. Sustainable Financing Cities and 5. Future Cities. The Governor of Bangkok will deliver a speech on the topic of Future Cities.
