The Permanent Secretary of BMA presented her vision for reducing greenhouse gases towards sustainable national development at Climate Action Leaders Forum #3.

Dr. Wantanee Wattana, Permanent Secretary for the BMA joins in expressing her vision at the Climate Action Leaders Forum # 3 to show her power to participate in reducing greenhouse gases in Bangkok towards sustainable national development. It discussed Bangkok’s climate change operations at the ballroom of Rajapruek Club, Bangkok.

The Permanent Secretary said Bangkok places great importance on climate change and has set a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by no less than 19 percent from normal or 10.15 MtCO2e (million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent) by 2030.
There is also a vision set. “Bangkok is moving towards a livable green city ready to deal with climate change, including cooperation from all sectors for sustainable development and a long-term vision by 2050 to make “Bangkok a livable city and strive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero. It has sustainable innovation and is ready to cope and adapt to change in all dimensions.”

In addition, the Governor of Bangkok has established the BMA Net Zero policy for agencies under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to serve as a model and show serious leadership in climate change for various sectors involved in the Bangkok area.
It has set more ambitious directions and targets for BMA to achieve carbon neutrality by 2026 and net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
