Bangkok is set to host the World Diabetes Congress in April 2025 at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bang Na district.
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) deputy permanent secretary Suksan Kittisupakorn hosted a press conference to announce the news on Monday at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel.
Suksan told those in attendance that the Thai capital will become the first city in the Southeast Asian region to host the world’s largest international conference on diabetes. This offers a great opportunity to strengthen Bangkok’s readiness as Thailand’s medical hub, and is a step forward to improving the overall public health service quality for city people, he added.
The congress will be jointly held by the BMA, the International Diabetes Federation, the Ministry of Public Health, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, and the Diabetes Association of Thailand under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
