The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) launched its yearly “Big Cleaning Day” project on Sunday now that Songkran festivities are over.
The project was officially opened by BMA deputy permanent secretary Dr Wantanee Wattana at the Prachanukul Sportsground in Bang Sue district.
Wantanee also checked the progress made in landscape improvement on Ratchadapisek Road and the Bang Sue 15-minute park.
The park is part of governor Chadchart Sittipunt’s “Bangkok 15 minutes” policy, which aims to provide Bangkokians with some green space 15 minutes away from home. It is in line with Chadchart’s efforts to make Bangkok a liveable metropolis for all.
Wantanee also led the BMA team in washing the road, footpaths and bus stops between Prachanukul and Wongsawang intersections. The cleaning was done with high-power water hoses.
The team also repainted the road curb and planted Chanab Thong or horse bush trees at the Chalerm Phrakiat 72nd Anniversary Park.
The deputy permanent secretary wrapped up the activities by reminding Bang Sue officials to strictly follow the regulations in building the 15-minute park, which includes collecting public opinions on the park’s features.
