The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is keeping an eye out for people showing Covid-19 symptoms, as thousands return to the capital from their hometowns, while many others had engaged in splashing water at crowded Songkran venues during the Thai new year celebrations.
“People who have been travelling upcountry or celebrating Songkran at crowded areas should check for symptoms,” Deputy Governor Tavida Kamolvej said on Sunday. “Take an antigen test before going back to work if you have fever, cough, runny nose, and headache.”
She advised those who test positive to receive treatment at local hospitals immediately, especially people with chronic health conditions and seniors.
The BMA has told all 11 hospitals and 69 public health units under its administration to stock up on drugs and medical supplies, and have their staff on standby in case new Covid-19 cases spike after the Songkran…
