BMA Collaborates with EU and GIZ to Advance Organizational Smart Infrastructure and Climate Resilience

On May 5, 2026, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) hosted a delegation from the European Union and the German International Cooperation (GIZ) at the BMA Command Center to enhance cooperation on smart city management. Led by Assoc. Prof. Tavida Kamolvej, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, the BMA engaged in a strategic dialogue under the “EU–Thailand Smart Infrastructure Dialogue”, which aims to accelerate investment in sustainable infrastructure across the digital, energy, and transportation sectors. The organization seeks to leverage the EU’s expertise in artificial intelligence and data analytics to modernize its internal information systems and data utilization protocols. This partnership focuses on bridging development gaps within the BMA’s operations, ensuring the organization can effectively manage climate-resilient projects and high-quality public services.

During the visit, the EU expressed strong interest in providing technical assistance to the BMA to address critical urban challenges such as PM2.5 monitoring, noise pollution, and integrated water management. The delegation also toured the BMA Command Center, observing how the organization utilizes real-time data to support policy decision-making and problem-solving. This visit, attended by senior executives from the BMA’s Fire and Rescue, Environment, and Traffic departments, underscores the BMA’s commitment to transforming into a data-driven entity. By integrating international best practices into its administrative framework, the BMA is positioning itself to lead long-term sustainable development and improve the overall quality of life for the citizens it serves.
