BMA Reports Major Success in English Proficiency Using Edsy AI Coach for Grade 6 Students

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has announced significant achievements in its mission to modernize language education, revealing that the integration of artificial intelligence has led to a 14.02% increase in average English scores. Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, recently chaired a meeting to review the 2025 fiscal year results of a collaborative project involving the BMA’s Education Department, EdTech startup Edsy, and SVOA. By deploying the “Edsy AI Coach”, a specialized application developed by experts from Carnegie Mellon University, the BMA successfully transformed traditional classrooms for over 14,000 sixth-grade students across 136 BMA schools. The initiative was designed to address long-standing challenges in speaking and writing, providing students with a digital assistant to refine their communication skills. Data comparisons between pre-test and post-test results showed that average scores climbed from 57.85% to 71.87%, with notable gains in pronunciation, vocabulary mastery, and overall fluency.

Beyond academic metrics, the BMA highlighted the positive impact on student confidence and teacher efficiency. Survey results indicated that 94.5% of students found the AI tool easy to use, while 79% felt more confident speaking English in various situations. For educators, the AI assistant served as a vital resource, with over 95% of teachers reporting that the technology reduced their workload by automating the assessment of communication skills. This allowed teachers to shift their focus toward providing personalized guidance and in-depth consultations. The project saw 59 BMA schools reach an excellent completion rate of over 90%, signaling a successful shift toward digital literacy in the public school system. This performance summary underscores the BMA’s commitment to utilizing cutting-edge technology to equip students with the practical skills necessary to thrive as global citizens.
