Thailand–US ties strengthened! Chatchart and US Congressional team discussed Bangkok’s future smart city development

BANGKOK, 19 Aug 2025 – the Governor of Bangkok, Chatchart Sittipunt, welcomed a delegation of US Congressional staff led by Andrew Ross, Chief of Staff to Representative Michael McCaul, to discuss ways to strengthen Thai–US cooperation in smart city development and future urban collaboration.

During the meeting, the delegation received a briefing on Bangkok’s urban management and development policies, which cover key areas such as environmental sustainability, transportation, flood management, homelessness and smart city initiatives. The governor emphasised the importance of advancing the city while ensuring human development, highlighting the use of technology through the Traffy Fondue platform, which allows citizens to submit complaints and track solutions efficiently and cost-effectively.

On this occasion, Governor Chadchart presented the delegation with a commemorative book, Bangkok: Then and Now.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Governor Wisanu Subsompon, senior executives of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, as well as representatives from the Strategy and Evaluation Department, the Digital Innovation Department, and the International Affairs Office. The event took place at Amornphiman Room, Bangkok City Hall (Giant Swing), Phra Nakhon district.
