BMA supports equal employment opportunities for persons with disabilities

(July 14, 2025) – Panumas Sukamporn, Adviser to the Governor of Bangkok, presided over the townhall event “Bangkok Governor and executives of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) energise and listen to the voices of volunteers with disabilities”.

The executives of the Social Development Department and relevant agencies also attended the event at TK Palace Hotel & Convention in the Chaeng Watthana neighbourhood.

Panumas expressed his gratitude to all partner organisations involved in the successful organisation of the event and affirmed his belief that the 3 Good BMA Model (Good Support, Good Process, and Good Worker) would benefit Bangkok by being practical and effective, serving as a model for public sector employment of persons with disabilities.

Currently, BMA has a policy of employing persons with disabilities in accordance with the Persons with Disabilities’ Quality of Life Promotion Act B.E. 2550 (2007), with a total of 629 employees across various types of disability and educational backgrounds.

This policy is set to be expanded for greater sustainability in society.

The event aimed to provide tangible evidence of the success of BMA’s employment policy for persons with disabilities and to recognise district officers who have offered job opportunities and training.

This enables volunteers with disabilities to showcase their skills and work as an efficient team serving the public.

Additionally, it serves to encourage volunteers with disabilities by acknowledging their contributions and boosting their confidence, thanks to the ongoing support from management. This effort helps make Bangkok a more inclusive and livable city for all.

The event was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jiraporn Limpananont, Consultant to the board of the Thailand Health Promotion Foundation; Dr. Thirawee Weerawan, Deputy Director-General of the Social Development Department; volunteers with disabilities from all 50 districts; and other relevant staff.
