BMA, Airbnb offer accommodation for earthquake victims

(April 2, 2025) – Two temporary shelters and one waiting centre have been opened to provide care and assistance to those affected by the recent earthquake, said Aekvarunyoo Amrapala, spokesman for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

These include:

1. A shelter at Din Daeng Service Centre for the Elderly, with a capacity of 70 people, 57 places currently vacant.

2. A shelter at Wat Samian Nari School, Chatuchak district, with a capacity of 150 people, is currently unoccupied.

3. A waiting centre for relatives at the collapsed State Audit Office building, Chatuchak district, currently housing 14 occupants.

Additionally, affected individuals can stay at accommodations provided through Airbnb.org, an online marketplace for short- and long-term homestays, for a maximum of 14 days free of charge.

Airbnb.org has pledged to provide 5,000 nights of free temporary accommodation in partnership with the BMA, Aekvarunyoo said, adding that 364 households have registered with Airbnb as of April 2, 2025, at 12.30 p.m.
