(March 27, 2025, 1.00 p.m.) – Chakkaphan Phewngam, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, made his second visit to Suan Luang district to follow up on operations in line with the Governor of Bangkok’s policies.
The Deputy Governor of Bangkok visited the RYE Huamak 2 construction site, which consists of two eight-storey residential buildings on Soi Sangobsuk, a parallel road to Highway 7 (Motorway), to inspect PM2.5 control measures implemented by White Siam Development.
The project operators are required to undergo regulations and conditions in the construction permit according to ministerial regulation no. 4 B.E. 2526 (A.D. 1983) and no. 67 B.E. 2563 (A.D. 2020), as well as environmental impact mitigation measures under the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.
Following the first inspection on December 26, 2024, the Deputy Governor of Bangkok instructed the operator to strictly undergo PM2.5 control measures, ensuring the functionality of mist sprayers, and keeping them operational during construction hours.
The operator has been ordered to install an air quality meter with a display monitor at the entrance of the construction site, prepare wheel-washing pits for trucks before they exit the site, and display a flag indicating the daily air quality at the entrance.
The Deputy Governor of Bangkok also instructed the operator to adjust the fence height to at least six metres and ensure that truck exhaust smoke meets the established standards.
Additionally, the Suan Luang District Office has developed an operational plan to inspect and regulate establishments contributing to PM2.5 pollution in the area, including one boiler, three cement plants, five construction sites, and 13 automotive paint booths, along with educational campaigns to prevent PM2.5 pollution.
Chakkaphan followed up on the management of three commercial areas in Soi Pattanakarn 25, with a total of 58 vendors. The district office will suspend two of these commercial areas in July 2025, as the number of vendors has decreased due to company relocations. Some vendors have ceased operations, while others have moved to nearby markets.
Following an assessment by the district office and the City Law Enforcement Department committee, it was found that these commercial areas did not meet the criteria for trading in 2023.
As a result, the Deputy Governor of Bangkok has instructed the district office to manage the commercial areas in accordance with established guidelines.
The Deputy Governor of Bangkok visited Zen Corporation Group’s waste separation project at Soi On Nut 17, a 9,483.48 square metre area, where 20 employees have been involved in the waste sorting initiative since 2021.
Chakkaphan also oversaw the development of 15-Minute Parks, with Suan Luang District currently having seven parks. The Deputy Governor has tasked the district office with identifying suitable vacant areas for the creation of 10 parks in line with the Governor of Bangkok’s policy.
Additionally, the district office has been instructed to ensure that the park designs meet the community’s needs and align with the goal of providing accessible recreational spaces for the public.
