Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok Welcoming speech and special lecture on the topic “Bangkok Vision for 2050: Challenges, Initiatives and Perspectives” in the policy discussion process Toward 2050: Future Bangkok for a Resilient and a Livable City, which BMA. collaborated with the French Agency for Development (AFD). and the Urban Design and Development Center Center of expertise in urban strategy Chulalongkorn University (UDDC-CEUS) held at Rattanakosin Room. BMA City Hall, with Jean-Claude POIMBOEUF, Ambassador of France to Thailand, giving opening remarks, Bangkok – Paris.
Policy discussions and perspectives, while Jean-Pierre Marcelli Southeast Asia Regional Director, French Agency for Development (AFD), discussed the sustainable future of cities in Southeast Asia and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niramon Serisakul, Director Urban Design and Development Center Center of Expertise in Urban Strategy Chulalongkorn University (UDDC-CEUS) presents the origins of the policy consultation process, challenges and opportunities in Bangkok.

Governor Chadchart said that today’s policy discussion is a good opportunity to exchange knowledge about urban planning. and planning in urban development In the long term, up to 2050, together we will set guidelines for dealing with the various challenges of the city. For the policy discussion process, Toward 2050: Future Bangkok for a Resilient and a Livable City was held from 18 – 20 June 2024 to exchange knowledge on urban development from experts in Thailand and the French Republic.

To discuss challenges in driving the development of Bangkok. To become a city that grows livable and supports change flexibly. as well as finding ways to cooperate in developing policies and innovations for long-term urban development.

The first day of the consultation process was divided into 3 phases: Phase 1: leaders and Strategies for Cities; Phase 2: sustainable city development. Topic: Strengthening economic and social resilience, Phase 3: Climate Change Infrastructure and Ecosystems on Building Resilience for Tomorrow’s Cities
