End of Songkran! Mr. Chadchart invades Khao San to clear out trash and clean the area.

Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, visited Khao San Road, Phra Nakhon District, to inspect the area and give encouragement to the heroic officials behind the cleanliness of Khao San Road after the Songkran festival last night. He walked along Rambuttri Road and through Chakkraphong Road, where the ground was white with flour, garbage, glass bottles, cardboard boxes, water guns, water buckets, flour cans, etc. Officials began cleaning at 4:00 a.m. with more than 6 water trucks to sweep up trash, store equipment, and spray clean Khao San Road and surrounding areas. The cleaning is expected to be completed this afternoon.

“After everyone has had fun, we have to continue cleaning up. Thank you to everyone who helped make our city neater.”

From the Songkran Festival on Khao San Road this year, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, urged the Phra Nakhon District to learn the lesson that during the first day, hawkers and stalls were blocking the sidewalks, making it difficult to walk. Later on April 14, the district moved out the stalls for better mobility. Arranging the entrance to the event in a One Way way, even if walking in a roundabout way, makes it easy for people to walk, including adding smart safety poles as well.

In this regard, information from the Phra Nakhon District Office reveals that the amount of garbage on Khao San Road and surrounding areas between 12-14 April 2024 totaled 116 tons. It can be divided into 12 Apr. at 12 tons, 13 Apr. at 15 tons, and 14 Apr. at 15 tons. The total was 42 tons and the area surrounding Khao San Road totaled 74 tons.
