Bangkok is committed to creating public spaces as a source of healing after data found that 70% of Bangkok residents are stressed.

Assoc. Prof. Tavida Kamolvej, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, discussed and opened the We’re Being Festival at Slowcombo, Pathumwan District.

She said that the lifestyle of Bangkok people is so hectic from work that sometimes they are stressed without even realizing it. From the health examination policy of 1 million people, now more than 100,000 people have been examined, and more than 70% have stress. They need friends and space to talk. When we have statistics like this on stress, we must not ignore them. Therefore, having an activity like this is very satisfying because any form of mental health space is made to create a safe space for everyone. We want to make mental health accessible to everyone.

Another aspect of Bangkok supporting safe areas is public areas that are not just gardens but must open up areas for a variety of activities. Each person’s method of dealing with stress is different, such as music activities in the garden, Dhamma in the garden, or attempts at Sound Healing, including areas that are not public areas like schools, and how to make children be in a good and comfortable environment. We must develop teachers, and learning spaces and organize activities like this regularly to create a safe space and heal everyone together.

We’re Being Festival is a mental health festival organized by Love Frankie Social Change Agency, an organization that promotes mental health and creates social change. The event will include 80 mental health workshops, exhibitions, a health market, and mental health talks with artists and experts. The event takes place March 23-24 and 30-31, 2024, with free entry from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM at Slowcombo. You can travel by MRT to Samyan Station, Exit 2. The building is between Soi Chula 48 and 50, near Samyan Mitrtown.
