Bangkok is prepared to deal with and help people during the summer storm of 18-22 March 2024.

Dr. Wantanee Wattana, Permanent Secretary of BMA informed that according to the Thai Meteorological Department’s weather forecast between 18-22 March 2024, upper Thailand will have a summer storm, There will be thunderstorms with strong gusts, lightning, and hail in some areas. To prepare, affiliated agencies have been assigned to take action such as the Drainage Bureau to monitor and coordinate with related agencies, report weather conditions to supervisors, control water levels according to plan, Inspect construction sites that will have an impact on drainage, and prepare electrical tools, water pump stations, water pumps, and personnel to enter the area immediately. The Public Works Department will prepare tools, materials, and equipment to inspect buildings, advertising signs, and buildings to ensure they are stable. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation will prepare fire trucks and rescue equipment. Officials are ready to assist people affected by strong winds and flooding in various areas.

In addition, the municipal office will arrange patrol cars and officials to assist people in areas with flooding problems and facilitate traffic.
The Traffic and Transport Bureau will inspect and fix traffic lights to ensure normal operation and use CCTV cameras to monitor the area. If you find flooding, fallen trees, fallen billboards, or damaged roads, please notify the relevant operations unit immediately. The Environment Department will prepare manpower, tools, and operations to correct the incident or impact on people’s homes and property along with providing assistance and alleviating the people’s suffering immediately. The district office will organize a rapid mobile unit (BEST unit) and municipal officials to help people facilitate traffic if there is a flood problem in the area and when there are fallen trees and fallen advertising signs to take immediate corrective action.
