Bangkok joins hands with the private sector to transform the land into a dream sports field through the designs of “Captain Tsubasa” and Thai national team players.

Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, presided over the opening ceremony of the Dream Stadium Season 2 project at Somdet Saran Ratmaneerom Park, Huai Khwang District.

Mr. Sanon said that the main challenge for Bangkok is that most of the land does not belong to us but belongs to the private or other government sectors. This area belongs to the Expressway Authority of Thailand. Many are sports fields with unclear administrators. We currently have over 1,000 sports fields, and this year there are plans to renovate at least 180 fields. To bring in a budget for renovation is sometimes not easy, so the private sector has come to cooperate. Last year the project was carried out at the Flat Huai Khwang Community Football Field (Flat No. 16), Din Daeng District, where we focused on areas that are communities and have a large population.

“The key is how to make the city livable with areas that people can easily access without having to pay for any services. If you come to play sports in a free area, it will give more people access to sports. I admire this project because it’s not just about improving, it’s about inviting children to play sports and pursue their dreams. Next year, we will be hosting the SEA Games. If sports fields throughout Bangkok are improved, it will be a good opportunity to welcome regional sports competitions this time,” he said.

In this regard, Bangkok joins with leading partners to organize “Dream Stadium” Season 2 to upgrade public space to make it a place for everyone. It is the starting point for creating a good quality of life for youth, communities, and society after the success of the first season in 2023.

This time, in addition to the original cartoon images from Captain Tsubasa, we also have images of Thai players in Japan such as Theerathon Bunmathan, Chanathip Songkrasin, and Sittichok Phaso
All of the above-mentioned players, in addition to having played for the Thai national team, have also been in Japan’s top league.
There is also an original image of the number 10 football player of the Thai national team holding hands with Captain Tsubasa that Master Yoichi Takahashi had painted for the Football Association of Thailand in 2016 on the field. All drawings are obtained under copyright from the agency in Japan and signed by the famous artist. In addition, community representatives were brought to compete in the Dream Tournament, a 5-a-side football tournament. The winner of Dream Tournament Season 2 will represent the project to compete in the Tsubasa Cup, a youth football program in Japan that will be held in January 2025.
