Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt praised the city’s private-sector partners while opening the “Wonderland Flora” fair at Fortune Town mall earlier this week, saying they are making Bangkok greener by planting more trees.
Chadchart noted that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration targets planting 1 million trees to absorb air pollution in the city. More than 300,000 trees have been planted already, and the city now hopes to expand its target to 2 million trees over the next four years, he said.
“Trees are an important part of the city. That’s why we have been prioritising projects that increase green spaces,” he said.
He thanked Fortune Town and its parent company CP Land Plc for planting trees around the shopping mall on Ratchadaphisek and Rama IX roads.
CP Land is also participating in the city’s “Din Daeng Beautiful Road” project, which officially began on Monday. It will upgrade the landscape along the thoroughfare.
“Wonderland Flora 2023 will raise awareness about conserving Thai plants,” Chadchart said.
Visitors will “witness a variety of local and exotic plants and flowers that have been brought here by the Royal Forest Department and associations for flowers and decorative plants nationwide. It is really a beautiful fair for everyone,” he added.
Among the fair’s main attractions is a rare giant olive tree, an ultra-luxury decorative tree.
Wonderland Flora 2023 runs until Sunday at the mall on Ratchadaphisek Road.
