Bangkok’s tourism agency took part in this week’s “Thailand MICE Roadshow Vietnam 2023” event to promote the capital as a “city of smiles” among business travellers.
A delegation from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s Culture, Sport and Tourism Department, led by BMA deputy permanent-secretary Chaloemphol Chotinuchit, joined the March 28-30 event in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event was organised by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau.
Chaloemphol said BMA’s aim was to highlight the “Bangkok Smiles” concept to attract MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) travellers. He said the concept is to put a smile on visitors’ faces as they enjoy five aspects of the city: Thai culture and festivals, riverside communities, dining and shopping, wellness industry, and value-added tourism.
“Our aim is to promote Bangkok as a leading MICE city in the region, with facilities and measures that support the hosting of international meetings and activities,” he said. “MICE travellers will also help boost the city’s economy in related industries, including organisation of events and tourism.”
The roadshow in Vietnam offered Thai businesses a platform to negotiate deals with potential customers in Vietnam and neighbouring countries. MICE businesses were also given a chance to exchange ideas and expand their network.
Participating in the event were 17 businesses from Thailand, including Thai Smile Airways, IconSiam, Sukosol Hotel, Siam Paragon, Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and Centara Grand.
