Message from BMA Annual Report 2023
the Permanent Secretary
for the Bangkok Metropolitan
Administration
Given its core mission of addressing the well-being and quality of life of Bangkokians, the
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) operates to enhance their comfort and
convenience, promote good health, and ensure the safety of lives and properties. This agenda
is in line with the 20-Year Development Plan for Bangkok Metropolis (2013-2032), of which
the third phase (2023-2027) is currently being implemented. The plan has been revised and
developed to complement all aspects of urban management strategies; as such, we are keeping
abreast with the rapidly changing socioeconomic context and striving to promote Bangkok as a
leading metropolis in the Asian region. The strategies have been established for the long-term
development of Bangkok and cover all dimensions of the BMA’s operations under the Governor
of Bangkok’s 9 Aspects of 9 Good Policies which focuses on 28 agendas for Bangkok’s
development. The common goal is to develop Bangkok and upgrade all aspects of quality
of life.
In this context, BMA-supervised agencies continue to uniformly drive and accomplish
these agendas on an ongoing basis. Their achievements included improving infrastructure, fixing
malfunctioning lighting systems and installing additional lighting to mitigate incidents related to
accidents and crimes, planting one million trees to increase green space areas, facilitating access
to public healthcare services, promoting soft power, providing public space to accommodate
different activities, upgrading BMA-supervised schools to rival Thailand’s foremost educational
institutions, encouraging the public to report problems via the online Traffy Fondue platform,
and enhancing urban management efficiency. Bangkokians and society have benefited from
these endeavors substantially.
Now that the BMA is approaching its 52nd year of operation, I would like to extend
my warm thanks to all executives, civil servants, officers, and staff for their resolute dedication
to the BMA’s tasks. May they be blessed with happiness, prosperity, good health, and strong
willpower, and continue their concerted efforts to develop Bangkok and provide a better quality
of life and sustainable well-being for all Bangkokians.
Mrs. Wantanee Wattana
