Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has teamed up with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to provide health information to children, adolescents, and women.
Governor Chadchart Sittipunt on Tuesday met with representatives from the UNFPA Office in Thailand to discuss a collaborative campaign to promote sexual and mental health among students, young adults and women.
The governor said the programme aims to help reduce violence against vulnerable groups, create sexual equality, and promote population development across all ages to prepare Bangkok for becoming an ageing society.
He added that BMA will work with UNFPA in offering health knowledge and education to children and women via a variety of activities, which will later be discussed with the UNFPA.
The United Nations Population Fund, formerly the United Nations Fund for Population Activities, is a UN agency aimed at improving reproductive and maternal health worldwide. Its work includes developing national healthcare strategies and protocols, increasing access to birth control, and leading campaigns against child marriage, gender-based violence, obstetric fistula, and female genital mutilation.
