Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt told a press conference on Wednesday that the capital is fully prepared to host the 16th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention in June.
“Hosting the convention will help attract Chinese businesspeople from around the world to Bangkok, promoting both economic cooperation and tourism,” Chadchart said, adding: “The event aligns with the city’s policy of promoting the economy and improving the quality of life for its people.”
The governor urged the public and relevant agencies to prepare to welcome Chinese tourists during the event, saying they will be visiting attractions throughout the city. “We must work together to promote high-quality, sustainable tourism in Bangkok, while using the creative economy to drive the city forward,” he added.
The conference – from June 24-26 at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre – is being organised by the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
It aims to promote economic cooperation, enhance relationships between Thai and Chinese entrepreneurs, preserve the cultural heritage shared by Thai and Chinese people for the next generation, and strengthen Chinese enterprises in the global market by enhancing cooperation between mainland and overseas Chinese entrepreneurs.
The conference will include seminars on current economic and cultural challenges, as well as forums at which Chinese business people in Thailand will discuss their lives and successes here.
More than 2,000 Chinese business people from mainland China, Southeast and East Asia, Australia, North America, Europe and the United Kingdom are expected to attend the conference. Another 4,000 or so people are expected to accompany them.
About 1,000 business people in Thailand who are Chinese nationals or of Chinese descent are expected to join the three-day conference.
