Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt, along with professors and students from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, visited the Bangkok Design Week 2023 event at the Phra Nakhon district’s flower market on Friday.
The flower market, also known as Pak Khlong Talat, is among the nine locations where the event is being held. The venue features several pop-up art exhibitions, including flower installations near Rajini School, a street photo exhibition under the theme “Human Craft Market” on Chakkraphet Road, and an interactive flower show in front of Bangkok Postal Headquarters.
Organisers said the exhibitions at the market showcased the identity of the neighbourhood, which is famous among Bangkokians for its vast variety of flowers. The exhibitions also focus on the spirit of Valentine’s Day, when the flower market will be bustling with shoppers looking for the perfect rose for their loved ones.
The Bangkok Design Week 2023 (BKKDW 2023) runs from February 4 to 12 (Sunday) in nine locations across the city. Organised under the concept of “UrbanNICEzation”, the campaign aims to showcase the creativity and skills of Thai designers and promote the artistic aspects of the city’s architecture and resources.
The BKKDW 2023 is being held in line with the governor’s policy to make Bangkok a truly liveable city by promoting local creative economy. The nine neighbourhoods showcasing their unique identities are:
• Charoen Krung – Talat Noi
• Yaowarat (Chinatown)
• Sam Yan – Siam Square
• Aree – Pradipat
• Phra Nakhon – Pak Khlong Talat – Nang Loeng
• Wong Wian Yai – Talat Plu – Khlong San
• Bang Pho
• Phrom Phong
• Kaset – Navamin
More urban neighbourhoods are expected to join the project over the next few years. For more information, visit the Facebook page of Bangkok Design Week.
