(January 30, 2026) Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, along with Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, welcomed Mr. Rintaro Mori, Mayor of Takarazuka City, and a delegation from Japan at Bangkok City Hall, Phra Nakhon District. This courtesy call aimed to establish amicable relations and exchange insights regarding urban revitalization initiatives through music, arts, and culture.

Governor Chadchart expressed his pleasure with the meeting, stating that Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is fully committed to supporting valuable and beautiful cultural exchange and cooperation with Takarazuka City.
Established in 1914, Takarazuka City is home to the “Takarazuka Revue,” Japan’s first all-female musical theatre company. The inception of this company significantly transformed the city’s identity and positioned it as a prominent center for performing arts within the nation. The acclaim garnered by the company not only contributed to the city’s economic expansion but also facilitated the development of large-scale theaters, commercial districts, and urban infrastructure, thus transitioning Takarazuka from a rural community to a modern urban environment.
Following World War II, Takarazuka City underwent substantial reconstruction and growth in terms of housing, transportation systems, and infrastructure. It evolved into a significant residential area for individuals employed in Osaka and Kobe while simultaneously establishing itself as a destination for cultural tourism.
Bangkok and Takarazuka have the potential to collaborate on developing cultural and creative tourism strategies to enhance the appeal and value of tourist attractions in both cities. Such collaboration can be realized through sister city arrangements, tourism promotion efforts, information exchange on tourism management practices, and the systematic development of human resources in the service and tourism sectors. This partnership is expected to increase tourist inflow, enhance local community incomes, and promote sustainable economic growth for both cities.
