The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) joined hands with relevant agencies to raise awareness among residents on tackling PM2.5 pollution via the “Action Day PM2.5 BKK” event.
The event was held at Benchakitti Park on Saturday and presided over by Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt.
“Today is a good day to create awareness, so people can tackle the PM2.5 issue together,” the governor said.
He added that cooperation from government and private agencies, as well as the public, is necessary to tackle pollution effectively.
The event on Saturday aimed to raise awareness among residents on what they can do to mitigate the impact of PM2.5 pollution on their health.
Earth Hour, a prominent environmental movement comprising 44 government and private agencies, taught participants different ways of tackling pollution, including working from home, managing work shifts, promoting the use of public transport and activities that cut down on air pollution.
PM2.5 refers to fine dust particles that are 2.5 micrometres or less in diameter that create health issues, especially for people suffering from chronic lung disease.
