Governor of Bangkok welcomes Kenyan Ambassador to exchange education and ideas for the Bangkok-Nairobi Marathon.

 

At Bangkok City Hall, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok welcomed H.E. Mr. Linsay Kiptiness, ‘ndc’ (K), Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Thailand and Dean of African Ambassadors Group, on the occasion of visiting and discussing cooperation with Bangkok.

For today’s discussion, there are issues of cooperation in many areas, such as planting trees and donating trees for Africa Day, and discussions on the establishment of sports ambassadors between Thailand and Kenya. Including organizing the Bangkok and Nairobi marathons. Athletes from both countries are encouraged to compete together in the two cities as Kenya is known for its marathon runners. In the field of education, the Ambassador of Kenya wants to promote the teaching of English by Kenyan teachers in Thailand. It includes wanting to provide scholarships to Kenyan students to study in Thailand on short courses and student exchange programs between Thai universities and Kenyan universities. In the future, sister-city relations and cooperation will be established between Bangkok and Nairobi, Republic of Kenya.

However, Thailand and the Republic of Kenya established diplomatic relations with each other on July 25, 1967. Thailand opened its embassy in Nairobi in 1978, while the Republic of Kenya opened its embassy in Thailand in October 2006. In the past, the two countries had smooth relations. The Republic of Kenya is considered one of the most important countries in Africa for Thailand, with the potential to be a key strategic partner for Thailand economically, politically, and socially.
