“Bangkok would like to invite everyone to join in reducing single-use plastic waste by carrying a water bottle to refill with clean drinking water at the Bottle Free Seas water refill point. Currently, free drinking water dispensers have been installed in 7 locations: 1. Around Gate 6, Benjakiti Park, 2. Pickleball Court, Benjakiti Park, 3. Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC), 4. Plaza in front of Trimurti Shrine, Central World 5. Air-conditioned bus stop, in front of Seacon Square, Srinakarin 6. Fortune Town, Rama 9 and 7. Thonburirom Park, Thung Khru District.” Mr. Aekvarunyoo Amrapala, BMA Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok said.
Bangkok together with the Environmental Justice Foundation: EJF has opened a water refill point for the “Bottle Free Seas” project, point 7, at Thonburirom Park, Thung Khru District under the policy of “free, safe drinking water throughout the city” to serve the public and reduce single-use plastic at the same time. Every refill of drinking water at the dispenser will reduce the use of 1 plastic water bottle.
In this regard, the results of the project from August 2023 onwards have been able to reduce the use of 274,770 plastic bottles.
