A multi-cultural fair, “Look Up BKK”, hosted by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, is now open at Museum Siam in Phra Nakhon district.
The event is open daily from 4pm to 8pm and will wrap up on Monday (July 24).
Deputy Bangkok governor Sanon Wangsrangboon, who inaugurated the fair on Thursday, praised the Ministry of Culture and Museum Siam for providing a platform for publicising various cultures of urban neighbourhoods, which will be a great opportunity to promote awareness in cultural conservation among young generations.
Sanon also hoped that “Look Up BKK” will help stimulate local economies especially in creative and tourism industries among both Thai and foreign visitors to Bangkok.
“The BMA aims to use the fair to promote Thai cultures and traditions, especially intangible ones, such as the Songkran Festival, to be internationally recognised as a world heritage,” he said. “Highlights of the fair include open-air art exhibition and workshop sessions, cultural performances of stages, and an exhibition showcasing rare folk wisdom from various Bangkok neighbourhoods.”
Visitors to “Look Up BKK” can also enjoy a free concert, street foods and booths selling souvenirs and handicrafts at special prices at the museum located on Sanam Chai Road. Admission is free.
