The Bangkok Metropolitan Association (BMA) will launch an anti-plastic campaign on World Environment Day to raise awareness about the damage plastic waste causes to the environment, BMA spokesman Aekvarunyoo Amrapala said.
The event “Do it yourself: Build a beautiful world with our hands” will be held on Monday from 2pm to 6pm at Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park) in Chatuchak district, Aekvarunyoo said.
The BMA’s Environment Department will work with district offices, the private sector, schools and communities to showcase the latest environmental innovations at the park.
The aim is to promote biodegradable materials as a substitute for plastics to reduce waste that is harmful to the environment, Aekvarunyoo said.
Participants can also take part in workshops hosted by school students and government agencies, where they will be taught how to turn waste materials into useful products by reusing, recycling, and upcycling.
