The season of outdoor concerts held in Bangkok parks each weekend since January 15 reached its grand finale on Sunday – though City Hall has promised more to come.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt oversaw the final concert at Sala Bhirom Bhakdi in the Palm Garden of Lumpini Park.
However, he said the city will continue hosting outdoor musical performances throughout the year and will upgrade Lumpini Park to support future concerts.
“Bangkok Metropolitan Administration [BMA] prioritises music and arts as they are important to the city and can bring happiness to people using only a small budget,” said Chadchart. “Bangkok already has plenty of public spaces and we aim to improve them further to host such events.”
“Please come out and enjoy the outdoor music at upcoming events to support the musicians,” he said.
The BMA aims to make Bangkok a city of music and performing arts by allowing people to enjoy these entertainments for free in public spaces, relaxing in the casual atmosphere, Chadchart said.
People needed the soothing balm of art after several years of Covid-19 and economic crisis, he added.
The governor thanked the musicians and all participants, as well as public and private partners who supported the concerts in a bid to make Bangkok a liveable city for all.
